Why do cheap earrings irritate my ears?
Usually it’s the base metal. Most fashion earrings are brass or a metal blend under a thin plating; when the plating wears, nickel and other reactive metals end up against your skin. Ours are 316L surgical-grade steel with a fused 14k gold finish, so there’s no brass base to wear through to.
Are these hypoallergenic earrings nickel-free?
Yes. Every pair is 316L surgical-grade stainless steel with a 14k gold PVD finish, lead-free and nickel-free, with no brass base underneath. Everyone’s skin is different, so if you have a diagnosed metal allergy, check the materials with your doctor, and remember returns are free for 30 days.
Are these good earrings for sensitive ears?
Most customers with sensitive ears start with our huggies: they’re lightweight and the hinged closure sits flush, with no post end to dig in when you lie down. The Constellation Stud Set is an easy way to try five styles at once.
Are these waterproof earrings? Can I shower in them?
Yes. Shower, swim, surf and sweat in them; lotion and perfume are fine too. After salt water or chlorine, a quick rinse in fresh water keeps them at their brightest.
Are they non tarnish earrings, or will they turn my ears green?
They’re made to resist tarnish: the 14k gold finish is fused to the steel with PVD, so there’s no thin plating to rub off and no copper base to turn skin green. If a piece ever tarnishes, the Lifetime Color Warranty replaces it free.
